The Opening is a celebration of the community in which we live. As the world around us opens up we welcome re-connection and interaction we all long for.
Curated by Dave Smith (best known for his work with Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Fofoulah, and Afro-Blues group Juju) and Joseph Hyde (composer, sound & media artist) ,
The Silk Mill will be hosting an open air stage & events area featuring local producers and musicians over a three-day period. The line-up includes Pete Gage, Natalie Brice, Justin Adams, Batch Gueye, Ian Ballamy, Heather Truesdall, Chris Redmond and John Law. This is an event for everyone and includes as well as stage performances a rhythm & pulse workshop, a West African dance class and Groove Tots for 0-5s (free entry for kids).
The Opening will take place over three days from Weds 7th – Fri 9th July, 4:00pm – 10.30pm at the Silk Mill.
Our especially constructed outside stage with newly covered area for the audience will allow us to be socially distanced and Covid safe. Some tickets will be on sale on the door for £10 but to be 100% sure tickets are best bought in advance.
