SUMMARY:confessional
DESCRIPTION:Confessional poetry of the 1950’s & 60’s came at a time of societal change and disillusionment. Poets and artists felt a deep urge to move beyond abstraction and create from their direct experience. This was part of a shift in perception\, influencing how we see our self\, humanity and relationships today. Now on the thresholds of even greater collective change\, in the face of such unknowns\, how do we find new pathways for what we seek to express? What are our modern ‘confessions’? \nThe workshops will explore the body through movement practices and drawing; language through study of a range of writers and artists; questions on God and the planet through the lens of nature and the mystic traditions. Are you a writer with an interest in developing your craft as part of a unique and nurturing group? Rebecca invites you to join her on this journey. \nDates: 2-7pm on April 11th / May 2nd / June 6th / July 4th \nRebecca is a yoga-movement teacher and dancer\, with an MA in poetry and have published two books. Her poems offer a tool\, a bridge\, a torch in our human search for meaning and explore the questions and tensions that exist between communion and freedom. \nInformation and booking: life@handtoearth.net / 07896 936625

SUMMARY:RUNNING COMMENTARY (A byob event)
DESCRIPTION:RUNNING COMMENTARY\nTuesday 5th May at 7pm\nBYOB: There will not be a bar so you are welcome to bring whatever refreshment (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to consume during the show. We can provide glasses if necessary. \nTIckets: £11 \nWritten & performed by P Burton-Morgan\nAfter a decade of no exercise (besides child-rearing and reaching for cake) 41 year old poet P Burton-Morgan finds themselves newly single and hungry to return to pre-childbirth levels of fitness. SUMMARY:Thrice in a Blue Moon
DESCRIPTION:Thrice in a Blue Moon\nThursday 8th July 7-11\nBar opens at 7\, music from 7.30\nWe are very excited to welcome back Kangaroo Moon and Blue Midnight to the Silk Mill Gallery for Frome Festival 2026. \nBlue Midnight remember playing in the very early days of Frome Festival and so it is wonderful to welcome them to the Silk Mill on this 25th anniversary year. \nTwo very different but intricately linked bands will intrigue your mind and engage your body as they weave magical violin and keyboard with the strumming of strings\, the plucking of bass\, the beating of drums and a splash of trombone into a funky psychedelic heart-lifting wall of richly melodic sound. \nFor information about our many other Frome Festival events click here. \nKangaroo Moon Live at the Bell Inn\, Bath \nBlue Midnight\, Can’t Pay the Rent at the Maxilla Social Club as part of the Portobello Film Festival \n \nFor other Frome Festival events at the Silk Mill & Silk Mill West/Frome Art School click here \nFor other Frome Festival events elsewhere in Frome click here \n
