Findings presents new work from four fine artists from the 2022/23 Foundation course at Trowbridge. They will be continuing their education at Glasgow School of Art and the Slade School of Art.
All of these artists are brought together by this common theme of the ‘found’. Objects are re-purposed and given new life and meaning; subtle and sensitive interventions reveal a curiosity in the messages that the objects that surround us can bear – their history and their poetic potential. Highly considered, even performative actions using this pre-existing material result in a sense of transformation. Images are re-presented, their hidden structures and messages are simultaneously buried and revealed under and within sensitive handling of painterly or filmic surfaces.
In this enquiry these artists find a voice for their personal view of the world. We are encouraged to look closer at the world we find ourselves in and to discover the poetic possibilities of our own daily life.
